Their Story
Located in Manhattan, tucked between Chinatown and Lower East Side is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Noree Thai Bazaar was established just over two years ago in 2018 featuring Thai food incorporated with the night market vibe that can't be found anywhere in the neighborhood. Their idea started with the food they enjoy making and eating at home, are now able to be experienced by everyone coming to this establishment. One of the partner of this restaurant, Chad, voiced his mission to provide a place of comfort for both locals and people visiting to feel like their are part of a welcomed community. This is a place where you are able to enjoy the food and drinks and also make new friends. Following their success with Korean BBQ in Tribeca, GunBae, Noree Thai Bazaar is a must go to.
The Ambience
Peering into the doors of Thailand, Noree Thai Bazaar features street market decors with walls boarded with what seems like window panes, night market bulbs hanging across the room and street art graffitied fit for Instagram. Being there for the first time, I was greeted with a nice sense of welcome and warm smiles. While the venue provides upbeat music, you are still able to converse without being too loud. Not only can you enjoy coming here individually or in a group, you also get the sense that you are able to meet the people here.
What's on Their Menu?
The warmth of the decors is not the only main attraction, but the food and drinks are amazing too. Their signature dish, Khao Soi, a northern Thai style dish combines curry based soup with noodles and tops it with a fried crispy noodle. You get the best of both worlds between a savory broth flavor and crunch texture. Blending both, a Thai restaurant and a night market vibe, you have a mix between full on entrées of the classics and finger foods that makes you want to try it all. For those who want alternative toppings, they also offer a great selection for each dish ranging from the chicken, pork, beef and shrimp to the veggies and tofu.
Of course, let's talk about their happy hour. Everyday from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM you can select from their arrays of Draft to Bottled Beers, from Wine to Well Drinks and the special of a Beer and Shot while adding 25¢ more for a delicious selection of skewers. My favorite was to pair a bottle of Singha (Thai Pale Lager Beer) with a Spicy Pork Cumin skewer. My second go-to must be the Tom Yum Goong Soup that has the perfect balance between the hot and sour element with delicious shrimps and mushrooms. Their menu offers variety of other dishes as well as an extensive drink menu that you can continue to explore with amazing price point for the value they offer.
Additional Perks: With each restaurant and bar offering their own unique experiences, this one is definitely one-of-a-kind. If you haven't played dice before, you will be able to learn and participate in it. Don't be afraid to ask for them or be taught how to play. It is definitely something I've missed in a Karaoke lounge that has been lost due to covid. If you are a sports fan, there is a TV for that also, so you can be caught up with your games. During the warmer season, the restaurant opens up the front where you can enjoy food with the view of the neighborhood. When you are also looking for baked goods, you can visit one right in front of the restaurant when you walk in independent of Noree Thai Bazaar.
